DELLO STRANIERO CHE CIASCUNO È A SE STESSO* [OF THE STRANGER EACH ONE IS HIM- HERSELF]

ABSTRACT.

ABSTRACT. The one who comes to meet me as a stranger, that is, in so far as I consider him/her like that, is such only as long as I am a stranger to myself, only because – as psychodynamic thought also shows – I refuse to recognize that part of me which I cast on him as other existence. On the other hand, it is starting from the fundamental recognition of internal alterity that the possibility of thinking the constitutive difference of each (dividuality) as a commonality of all individuals, intra- and extra-communitarian, opens up; and only then can the community begin to understand itself as a We which condones to itself and to Them the difference that co-institutes them.
