STORIA DEL CONVENTO DOMENICANO DI SORIANO CALABRO E DEI PRIMI INSEDIAMENTI DELL’ORDINE IN CALABRIA
ABSTRACT. La storia del convento Domenicano di Soriano Calabro ha inizio nel XVI secolo ed evolve sulla base del rapporto tra spiritualità, arte e fede, attraverso cui si dispiega la speranza di un popolo come quello sorianese, che ha saputo condividere momenti di esaltazione e situazioni critiche che hanno caratterizzato questo lembo di Calabria. Essa rappresenta il fiore all’occhiello di quella diffusione dell’Ordine dei Predicatori auspicata dallo stesso fondatore San Domenico di Guzmán nel Mezzogiorno d’Italia. Per individuare gli aspetti più interessanti inerenti la propagazione dell’Ordine Domenicano nel meridione occorre partire dalle indicazioni dettagliate che lo storico del Santuario Domenicano di Soriano, padre Antonino Barilaro O. P., elabora sulla scia del Vicaire, il quale offre un quadro dettagliato inerente l’agiografia del Santo di Caleruega
ABSTRACT. The history of the Dominican convent of Soriano Calabro began in the sixteenth century and evolved on the basis of the relationship between spirituality, art and faith, through which the hope of a people like the Sorianese spread out, who knew how to share moments of exaltation and critical situations that have characterized this strip of Calabria. It represents the pride of the spread of the Order of Preachers advocated by the founder Saint Dominic of Guzmán in the South of Italy. To identify the most interesting aspects inherent to the propagation of the Dominican Order in the south it is necessary to start from the detailed indications that the historian of the Dominican Shrine of Soriano, father Antonino Barilaro OP, elaborates in the wake of Vicaire, which offers a detailed picture concerning hagiography of the Saint of Caleruega.
