TEORIE FILOSOFICHE DEL CONCETTO DI ABITUDINE

ABSTRACT. The purpose of this paper is to put a light on the principal theories of the philosophy of habit, in terms of a thought in which behavior is studied by analyzing action after action, in a systematic way. Habit is the human disposition to act in a similar way whenever we encounter a similar context. It can also be defined like the readiness to act in order to adapt ourselves and our cognitive skills through the plasticity of the nervous system. In the story of philosophy, from ancient times to contemporary ones, habits have been considered as an interesting research topic and, on the other hand, it is often being presented as a very complex issue. However, we might wonder: in which way are some habits developed and how may they influence our life or even better our lifestyle? What kind of action can be defined in terms of habit? And, how important could the link between brain-body be in the process of behavior formation? These are the main questions we are going to discuss in here.
