MAURICE BEAUBOURG CHRONIQUEUR DELLA “FRANCE LIBRE”
ABSTRACT. Quest’articolo è dedicato alla figura di Maurice Beaubourg, giornalista, conteur, critico e drammaturgo di spicco in epoca simbolista, caduto nell’oblio già negli anni immediatamente precedenti alla prima guerra mondiale. Lo studio si propone un duplice obiettivo: da un lato, avanzare un’ipotesi sulle ragioni, letterarie ed extra-letterarie che, dopo un ventennio di prestigio e notorietà, lo relegarono ingiustamente ai margini della vita culturale parigina. Dall’altro, ricostruire la cifra stilistica della sua opera partendo dall’analisi delle sua prima produzione, le chronique che scrisse per la “France libre”, in cui già si andavano definendo quei toni e quei registri che hanno fatto di lui un rappresentante dell’esprit non-sérieux fin de siècle.
ABSTRACT. This article focuses on Maurice Beaubourg, journalist, conteur, critic and eminent playwright in the Symbolist era, who fell into oblivion in the years leading up to the First World War. The study has a two-fold objective: on the one hand, to propose a theory concerning the reasons – both literary and non-literary – that led to his being unjustly marginalized in Parisian cultural life after twenty years of fame and prestige; and, on the other hand, to examine the stylistic features of his oeuvre, beginning with an analysis of his first work, the chronique he wrote for the review “France libre”, in which the tones and registers that would establish him as a fin de siècle representative of the esprit non-sérieux.
